Oliver was born in England and, after residing in Swaziland, Bolivia, and Sweden, he has chosen to make his home in the Norwegian city of Lillehammer.
A graduate in Economics from Exeter, where he specialised in examining the economic realities underlying the failed theory of a Clash of Civilisations, Oliver also holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Royal Holloway. His profound interest lies in the human experience of global affairs.
After establishing and managing a holiday company in the UK, Oliver sought a new direction that would allow him to leverage his expertise in marketing, economics, and politics. Deepening his involvement in Lillehammer’s literary scene, he found a kindred spirit in Lotta Köhler and, with the encouragement of friends living in exile in Norway, co-founded Sic Publishing.
Engaging in proofreading literature translated into English, Oliver encountered many talented exiled writers, realising the significance of the stories they had to share. This experience prompted his involvement in DKS, where he collaborated with an exceptionally gifted writer to educate thousands of students about the challenges faced by women in Iran.
Drawing on this collective experience and the complementary skills of his business partner, it became the natural progression for Oliver to embark on the journey of starting a publishing company dedicated to disseminating the stories of numerous talented individuals.
