Documenting Gender Apartheid er et tre\u00e5rig muntlig historieprosjekt ledet av den iranske poeten og aktivisten Fatemeh Ekhtesari, st\u00f8ttet av Sic Publishing i Norge. Prosjektet dokumenterer erfaringene til kvinner som har vokst opp under systemer av kontroll og diskriminering p\u00e5 grunn av kj\u00f8nn, og som n\u00e5 bygger nye liv i Europa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kj\u00f8nnsapartheid er en strukturell form for kj\u00f8nnsdiskriminering som bevisst h\u00e5ndheves gjennom lover, regler og institusjoner. Den preger ikke bare det offentlige livet, men ogs\u00e5 de mest private sidene av hverdagen, og begrenser kvinners valg og muligheter rett og slett fordi de er kvinner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stemmer som ellers kunne g\u00e5tt tapt<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Prosjektet s\u00f8ker spesielt \u00e5 l\u00f8fte fram kvinner som kanskje aldri tidligere har fortalt sin historie \u2013 eller kanskje aldri innsett at de hadde en historie \u00e5 fortelle. M\u00e5let er \u00e5 gi stemme til dem som enn\u00e5 ikke har funnet en i sitt nye hjem, og deretter \u00e5 forsterke den. Ved \u00e5 bevare disse stemmene oppmuntrer prosjektet ogs\u00e5 andre til \u00e5 se at deres erfaringer betyr noe, og bidrar til \u00e5 synliggj\u00f8re omfanget av disse utfordringene p\u00e5 tvers av samfunn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historier om undertrykkelse og motstand<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Vitnesbyrdene viser hvordan kj\u00f8nnsapartheid h\u00e5ndheves p\u00e5 mange m\u00e5ter: p\u00e5tvungne kleskoder, begrensninger p\u00e5 bevegelsesfrihet, hindringer for utdanning og arbeid, segregering i skoler og offentlige rom, og konstant overv\u00e5kning fra familie, lokalsamfunn eller staten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samtidig viser de ogs\u00e5 mot, oppfinnsomhet og solidaritet. Kvinner forteller om kreative m\u00e5ter \u00e5 omg\u00e5 restriksjoner p\u00e5 \u2013 \u00e5 spille fotball n\u00e5r det var forbudt, \u00e5 studere i hemmelighet, \u00e5 hjelpe hverandre \u00e5 st\u00e5 imot, og \u00e5 finne glede der det egentlig ikke var rom for den. Mange fortsetter \u00e5 st\u00f8tte kvinners rettigheter i sine milj\u00f8er ogs\u00e5 etter ankomsten til Norge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norge som et nytt kapittel<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For mange har Norge gitt sikkerhet og friheter som var umulige i hjemlandet. Samtidig gjenst\u00e5r noen utfordringer \u2013 enten gjennom transnasjonal undertrykkelse eller press fra familie og nettverk. Disse historiene minner oss om at frigj\u00f8ring er en prosess, ikke et enkelt skritt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hvorfor det betyr noe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ved \u00e5 bevare disse muntlige historiene s\u00f8rger prosjektet for at fortellinger som ellers kunne forblitt usagte blir h\u00f8rt, og gir anerkjennelse til kvinner som enn\u00e5 ikke har funnet sin stemme i Norge. Det synliggj\u00f8r b\u00e5de urettferdighetene ved kj\u00f8nnsapartheid og kvinners kreativitet i \u00e5 st\u00e5 imot, samtidig som det oppmuntrer til dialog i Norge og utover om trygghet, frigj\u00f8ring og den p\u00e5g\u00e5ende kampen for kvinners rettigheter. Prosjektet vil munne ut i b\u00e5de en bok og en film, slik at historiene kan deles bredt og bli en del av en felles hukommelse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosjektadministrasjon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fatemeh Ekhtesari \u2013 poet, jordmor og aktivist, hvis eget arbeid har utfordret sensur og kj\u00f8nnsbaserte restriksjoner i Iran. N\u00e5 bosatt i Norge, bringer hun med seg erfaring og et sterkt engasjement for \u00e5 l\u00f8fte fram andre kvinners stemmer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
